In 2012, Ukrainian emigrants invested $ 7.5 billion in the development of the Ukrainian economy, MP of IV-VI convocations Oksana Bilozir said during the round table "Problems of legal protection of Ukrainian migrant workers rights in Europe", ForUm correspondent reports.
"In 2012, Ukrainian labor migrants sent to Ukraine more than 7.5 billion, which is 3.4% of GDP. Such data were recently published by the National Bank of Ukraine. When compared with 2011, the growth, even under the global crisis, was 6.4%, or 0.3 billion," she noted.
Bilozir also added that Ukrainian immigrants have invested in the economic development of the country as much as foreign direct investment amounts.
"The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported that for the whole 2012, foreign investors invested in our economy 6 billion. The volume of investments of labor emigrants equals volume of direct foreign investments," Bilozir summed up.
