Ukraine requires an external infusion of at least 90 billion euros to introduce European standards, director of the NASU Institute of Economics and Forecasting of NASU Valery Heyets told a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports. 

Economist stressed that Ukraine needs 20 billion euros just for introduction of the environmental standards. "We need external assistance of approximately 2.5% of GDP ... All environmental requirements, directives, which Ukraine should implement worth 20 billion euros," he said.

Heyets also stressed that energy efficiency and modernization of energy infrastructure up to 2020 needs 68 billion euros, implementation of technical regulations - 4 billion euros.
 
Expert paid special attention to medium-term risks. "We have to consider the fact that the burden on the state budget will increase. The loss of jobs is also expected. This may be 2-2.5 million, according to data of some experts, even 5 million people," he concluded.
