The European Parliament mission of former European Parliament President Pat Cox and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski will visit Ukraine on May 26-28, acting director of the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis said.

“The program of the mission’s visit envisages meetings with Ukrainian officials to discuss issues foreseen by the mandate of the mission,” he told a briefing on Tuesday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

He said that the Ukrainian side was contributing to the realization of the Cox-Kwasniewski mission.

The European Parliament mission to Ukraine headed by Cox and Kwasniewski started monitoring court proceedings involving Tymoshenko on June 11, 2012 under an agreement between Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and European Parliament President Martin Schulz.

Their mandate was subsequently expanded to include the court proceedings involving former interior minister Yuriy Lutsenko and former acting defense minister of Ukraine Valeriy Ivaschenko.
