The Kyiv City Council approved the draft project of land management on setting and changing the borders of Kyiv, which provides for the extension of the city limits.

As ForUm correspondent reports, this decision was supported by 74 members of Council.

According to head of the city council committee on environmental policy Denys Moskal, now Kyiv area Kiev includes Kotsyubynske village and the Velyky island. "Kyiv has received additional 2.757 hectares of land, and gave 686.3 ha to Kyiv island," he said.

Moskal informed that a new water intake is to be built at the Velyky island to ensure the supply of clean water for Kyiv citizens.

He also said that a draft will be submitted for approval to the Kyiv Regional Council and then to the Parliament. Moskal said that the project is likely to be submitted to the Parliament in April 2013.
