Ukraine is not afraid of increase in flow of foreign adopted parents because of the anti-international adoptions ban in Russia, Children's Ombudsman Yuri Pavlenko has told a briefing, commenting on coming into force of Russian anti-US adoptions law, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Our legislation is focused on the development and priorities of national adoption. Ukrainian law has a number of restrictions, which are not contrary to the interests of the child in relation to foreign adopters," Pavlenko said.

By results of 2012, the citizens of Ukraine have adopted three times more children than the foreigners. According to current data, in 2012 the Ukrainians have adopted two thousand children, while foreigners 700.

At the same time, according to Pavlenko, most children adopted by foreigners are children with serious illnesses.

Adoption legislation is a process, requiring continuous improvement. More than ten laws and regulations have been adopted in 2012. In general, 150 relevant laws and regulations have been adopted for the last five years.
