The European Commission is going to suggest the EU Council signing the agreement on further simplification of visa regime with Ukraine in the coming days, EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs Michele Cercone told a press conference today.
"We hope to reach a final decision on the level of the Commission in the coming days," he said
"This is a very specific solution, it will facilitate contacts between people, and that's exactly the issue we want to promote," Cercone added.
As a reminder, Ukraine and the EU initiated the visa-free dialogue on October 29, 2008.
On November 22, 2010 the EU granted Ukraine the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization, which involves legislative changes, the ratification of international documents and the proper implementation of these decisions in practice.
