Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov is convinced that Ukrainian society considers the sentence of ex-Premier YuliaTymoshenko fair.

"If society considered the sentence unjust, there would be totally different reaction, rather than 20-30 people at the Pechersk district court. Our society knows, it suffered itself, and isn’t in hurry to join the protests," the Prime Minister said in the air of the radio station "Echo of Moscow".

Azarov noted that the leaders of many countries, including Russia, European Union, USA, and even the Dalai Lama have criticized this trial and verdict, but the PM is convinced that none of them has actually read the sentence.

"Nobody has read anything, but all believe that the persecution is politically based," he said.

"We talked with Putin (Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin - ed.). I told about the case (of Yulia Tymoshenko - ed.) in essence, and he understood my position ... If I had the opportunity, I would explain it to the Dalai Lama too," Mykola Azarov said.
