The Customs Union is the main trading partner for Ukraine, foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara told a briefing after a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida.
"The European integration remains a strategic direction in foreign policy of Ukraine. This is a political will of the current leadership of Ukraine and a requirement of the relevant law that fixes the European integration as a priority area. At the same time, our cooperation with the Customs Union has a strategic importance, and the Customs Union is a trade partner number one for Ukraine," Kozhara said.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Ukraine considers that it conducted very successful negotiations with the Customs Union on the status of interaction.
