President Viktor Yanukovych instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine until the end of 2013 to hand over local motor roads jointly with relevant financial resources to the sphere of management of local executive authorities.
A relevant instruction of the Head of state is posted on the Presidential website, Ukrinform reports.
“Viktor Yanukovych considers the state of affairs, which has formed in the sphere of road construction, inadmissible, in particular, as regards the quality of motor roads, streets and roads of communal ownership. According to the Head of state, the time came to introduce new approaches in this sphere and to carry out its fundamental reformation,” a statement by the Presidential press service informs.
In addition, Yanukovych tasked the government to prepare proposals on creation, starting with 2014, of the State Road Fund in the state budget of Ukraine and ensuring its relevant funding.
The Cabinet was also instructed to develop an issue on production of high-quality bitumen to provide for the needs of road workers, who use new technologies in works on construction and repairs of highways.
