On 28 September 2007 on the instructions of Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk held a sitting of the Organization committee on preparation and hosting the final tournament of the European Football Championship Euro-2012 in Ukraine, Cabinet press service reported.
Minister of Family, Youth and Sport Viktor Korzh, Minister of Economy Anatoliy Kinakh, First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, National Olympic Committee Vice-president Volodymyr Brynzak, Football Federation president of Ukraine Hryhoriy Surkis, other members of the Organization committee, invited representatives of central and local authorities have participated in the sitting.
“All of us should realize that hosting the final tournament of the European Football Championship Euro-2012 is great responsibility. Responsibility not only to Europe, first of all to our country, our citizens. We must prove that the Viktor Yanukovych Cabinet is able to hold such events at the highest level,” the Vice Prime Minister noted.
Dmytro Tabachnyk noted that Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Government and Organization committee under the direction of the Prime Minister of Ukraine have made the first steps toward organizational preparation and hosting of Euro-2012, it remained only to carry out our plans.
“Time is flying and those things which satisfied us yesterday are in the past. We are to constantly analyze our activities, confront them clearly with the time remained for full readiness,” the Vice Prime Minister stressed.
Dmytro Tabachnyk said that it is early yet to estimate what we have done or not, preparation for Euro-2012 should be under constant control, there should not be any details.
First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk has delivered speech during the sitting and emphasized the necessity of stirring up the work and consistency of acts on implementing measures fore preparation of Euro-2012, he also criticized and estimated as non-constructive the Defense Ministry’s position which practically upsets implementation of the President of Ukraine and Cabinet of Ministers’ instructions connected with solving problems on holding European Football Championship in Ukraine.
The Organization committee’s sitting has also considered two issues: the first – on cities preparation for hosting Euro 2012, the second – draft State program on preparation and hosting the final tournament of the European Football Championship Euro-2012 in Ukraine.
The representatives of the cities participating in hosting Euro-2012 have reported on the first issue: city head Andriy Sadovy – Lviv, city head Ivan Kulichenko – Dnipropetrovsk, first deputy head of the Kyiv city state administration Anatoliy Holubchenko – Kyiv, deputy city head Valentyn Laktionov – Donetsk, deputy mayor of Kharkiv Mykhaylo Fateyev – Kharkiv.
