Ukrainian Grain Association declared about stop of grain export from the country. In its press release, UGA told that, as of 10:00 on Monday, October 9 2006, none of the licenses for wheat export from Ukraine was granted, AgriMarket.Info reported.

According to its data, steamers are still lying idle in Ukrainian ports; there are big lines of wagons with grain. The workload of the Ukrainian ports with grain may lead to declaring of conventions. Every day Ukrainian companies notice the rising of financial losses due to penalty provisions.

UGA affirms that it is impossible to get to know when the first licenses would be granted.

The administration of UGA addressed to Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnik and to Minister of Economics Vladimir Makukha asking them to clear up the situation with non-granting of licenses for wheat export.

Let us remind that from October 3 till the end of the current year, export of milling wheat and meslin (mixture of wheat and rye) in Ukraine is the subject of licensing (according to the decision of Government No. 1364 from September 28, 2006). Licenses are granted by Ministry of Economics in coordination with Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

By the beginning of October Ukraine has already exported more than 1.6 mln. tonnes of wheat of 2006 crop.
