Victor Yushchenko has met with Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov to discuss political, social and economic issues.

The President voiced his concern over delays in coalition negotiations. He said the parties should sign a political deal and characterized an agreement elaborated by BYuT, Our Ukraine and the Socialists as good.

The Head of State insisted that the leaders should consider results of the March 26 elections when sharing posts but reiterated thathe would not allow any party to encroach on posts from his quota. Then Yushchenko said he was not a participant but an arbiter of the talks.

He promised to cooperate with all the parties in parliament. The President, as well as the citizens of Ukraine, expects the political leaders to demonstrate responsibility and build an alliance on respect and mutual trust. Yushchenko added that he wanted their coalition to be stable and cooperate with the President, the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet.

In his turn, Mr. Yekhanurov said the Ukrainian economy had slightly recovered, with the GDP rate growingby 8.5% in May. The Head of State said the government should spare no effort to preserve such growth. Then they discussed budget issues.
