In anticipation of the Border Guards Day, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov handed over keys to the apartments in Bortnychi, Kyiv region to 56 families of military men of Kyiv border garrison, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Families get not just keys, they practically may move to these apartments and live there. This is somewhat different from the accepted practice when, after receiving the keys, a settler is engaged in furnishing for year and a half," he noted.

Prime Minister stressed that in last 5 years, more than four thousand guards got flat. According to Azarov, this is a very good indicator. "We have significantly increased our attention to the housing program for servicemen," he noted, adding that these programs are implemented in all the armed forces.
"President puts the task before the government. Almost always he oversees the implementation of this task. Naturally, we must do everything possible to perform it," Azarov said.

He also added that, despite all the difficulties, the task of solving the housing problems of the military remains a priority. "You can be sure that we will cope with this task. The pace of housing construction has increased by half, compared with 2009. This is a good result and we plan to double it in 2013," Azarov added and said that these plans are absolutely realistic and are based on the extensive preparatory work, done over the years.

As noted by the Cabinet’s press service, apart from department housing in Bortnychi, apartment blocks are also built in Odesa, Lutsk, Chernihiv and Uzhgorod.
