
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych stressed the importance of strict compliance with the law on parliamentary election in Ukraine as a necessary condition of holding fair and democratic parliamentary election.
"I hope that the law of Ukraine, adopted with the participation of the opposition, will be obeyed and election will be given an objective assessment," Yanukovych said, talking to the journalists in New York, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.
In addition, he said that even before the start of the election campaign in Ukraine, there were biased estimates for it, but that should not prevent observers from assessing the election objectively. "Some observers will be biased. All others will give real estimates," Yanukovych said.
Ukraine’s President emphasized that authorities are working hard to ensure the current electoral law is obeyed. He added that the law enforcement agencies will also closely monitor the situation - both during the campaign and on the election day. "They will not distinguish between the parties candidates. The assessment will be given to everybody on equal grounds, according to the law," he said.
