The Foreign Ministry has confirmed information on the detention of the former presidential guard Mykola Melnychenko in Naples (Italy), the Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dikusarov reported.

"We confirm that the law enforcement agencies arrested Melnychenko on the basis of the order from Interpol," he said.

According to Dikusarov, Melnychenko has a lawyer.

However, he has not specified for how long Melnychenko has been detained, noting that a hearing will decide the further fate of the ex-major.

As a reminder, on October 13, the general prosecutor Viktor Pshonka said that Melnychenko was put on the wanted list.
