By the end of 2013, the largest commercial seaport of Ukraine, the Odesa port (country's south), is planning to construct a new container terminal, in which about USD 500 million will be invested.

As the Infrastructure Ministry informed, the project will be realized by the Odesa port and the stevedore company GPK-Ukraine, which will give 55% of investments, UKRINFORM reported.

According to Vice Premier and head of the ministry Borys Kolesnikov, in 2012, the state, possessing the port, will invest in this project UAH 600 million (USD 75.1 million).

The project provides for creation of 19 ha of additional area and construction of 600 meters of the landing strip of up to 16 meters depth. Annual capacity of the terminal will be 600.000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit).

The port also plans to construct storage facilities with possibility of simultaneous storage of 16.000 TEU.
