The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a bill that defines the principles of the system of emergency assistance to the population based on a single phone number 112, Yan Bernaziuk, the assistant to the Minister of Emergency Situations, told the press, UKRINFORM reported.

According to him, the bill takes into account the interests of all the agencies that will participate in the operation of the 112 service: Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Infrastructure and local governments. Now the document will be submitted to parliament for a vote.

Director of the Centre of Public Safety 112 Rostyslav Valikhnovsky added that now the emergencies ministry will begin the implementation of the 112 project. He recalled that in July 2011, the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Minister of Emergency Situations during a visit to the United States studied the experience of the 911 service (the analog of 112).

During the visit, the parties held consultation on the possible involvement of U.S. government agencies and manufacturers to build the 112 systems. As a result - the U.S. Agency for Trade and Development provided a grant of USD 649,000 for the feasibility study of the 112 system in Ukraine. The grant went to Winbourne Consulting, which is among the five largest integrators of such systems in the world.
