One of the greatest Christian relics - the Shroud of the Virgin was delivered in Kyiv. It will be available for worship in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
According to the ForUm correspondent, Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III solemnly handed the relic to Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Volodymyr. After the presentation of the Shroud, there was a solemn prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
During the sermon, Metropolitan Volodymyr said that "the arrival of the shroud is a historic event that should remain in our hearts".
Once the shroud brought to the Assumption Cathedral, near the entrance to the temple there was a stampede among the parishioners, which continued in spite of the warnings of the guards to limit access of believers to the relic. As a result of crowding, one woman went faint and several people were taken bad.
After the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the relic in the religious procession will go through 12 cities of Ukraine.
