Pavlenko: 70% of boarding schools graduators have no place to live
The local authorities will be instructed to check where the orphans live after graduating from the boarding schools, children's ombudsman Yuri Pavlenko told a briefing before the international conference “Protection of children's rights in terms of social adaptation of orphans and children deprived of parental care", ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the social initiatives, including the last instruction of the President to the local authorities, put the task to expand the network of social hostels for orphans and children deprived of parental care. In addition, the local authorities and the Prosecutor’s General's office were instructed to check the housing and property rights of these children.

"As of July 1 of this year, there were about 96 thousand orphans and children deprived of parental care Ukraine... However, about 20 thousand children remain in orphanages or children's homes of family type up to this day. About 70 percent of majors do not have housing after leaving these institutions," he said.

That is why, according to Pavlenko, the local authorities will have to check whether such a child was illegally taken away a flat. If such an event takes place, a child should be returned it or given the appropriate accommodation.
