Work on draft budget-2008 preparation is going on well. Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said that today at the Cabinet session, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
“Efficient drafting of the 2008 Budget is a task for everyone. The draft budget should be completed in September,” Prime Minister said.
At that the Head of Government stressed that it is necessary to decide on the form of hearing the draft state budget taking into account the situation with the Parliament, "Cabinet" press service reported.
“Parliament is practically invalid, it is blocked. The Parliament can starts its work, only for one day, maybe two, not more. But we intend to consult with the President about this issue and with the factions’ leaders because we need expert discussion of the budget with participation of all branches of power and validate it through a document: either a protocol of parliament hearings or some other document,” Viktor Yanukovych said.
The PM also noted that Ukraine had never faced such perforce to draft state budget under such conditions, “but we have to do it because life is going on and we must prepare for timely adoption of the budget this year, in 2007 for 2008”.
Viktor Yanukovych has commissioned First Vice Prime Minister, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov to cooperate with the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Secretariat of the President for searching way out of this situation. “We have also discussed this subject with the President,” the Head of Government noted.
