Foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara complained about the fact that the West is not objective towards the Party of Regions, he stated during the U.S. Helsinki Commission hearing in Washington on Wednesday.

"Our problem, problem of the ruling party is that we did not support the Orange Revolution in 2004. Logic and tradition of political struggle in Ukraine showed that my party was on the other side of the barricades. But it does not mean that we do not advocate for progress, reform and European integration. I am sure that if the party of Yulia Tymoshenko had been in power today, the West would have forgiven it a lot," the minister noted.

According to him, after the victory of the Orange Revolution, many of its fellow party members went to prison, and even he suffered, when he was fired for political reasons.
