In 2012, the consolidated balance of payments deficit amounted to 4.2 billion USD (2.5 billion USD in 2011).
The current account deficit in 2012 increased to 14.4 billion USD or 8% of GDP (10.2 billion USD or 6.2% of GDP in 2011).
This happened due to the increase in negative balance of trade to 20.5 billion USD compared with 16.3 billion USD in 2011.
