Mortality from breast cancer of the Kyiv women has decreased by 19%, chief oncologist in Kyiv Dmytro Osynskyi told a press conference to mark the World Day against Breast Cancer, ForUm correspondent reports.
"As of today, 11 thousand patients are registered at the dispensary in Kyiv. A number of women, who have been under the care of oncologists over 5 years, exceeds 65%. This suggests that the quality of medical care is at the high level," the capital's oncologist stressed.
According to the doctor, for the last 20 years, a number of cases, when the breast cancer is detected during the periodic health examination, increased in the capital.
"There is still the breast cancer mortality, but for the last 5 years, it decreased by 19%. This happened due to the fact that modern women have become more conscious, and the media pays special attention to this issue," Osynskyi summed up.
