Ex Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Lazarenko is in top ten of the most corrupted world leaders, according to list provided by World Bank in UNO headquarters.

According to estimation data, for two years of his PM activity in 1996-1997 Lazarenko has stolen about USD 200 million that comprised 0.4% of DGP of Ukraine. It is comparable to sum that Peruvian dictator Alberto Fujimori has stolen for ten years in power (1990-2000).

List of the most corrupted leaders contain: head of Indonesia Mohamed Suharto who has squandered USD 15-35 milliards for 30 years; Filipino Ferdinand Marcos who has stolen about USD 10 milliard; ex Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic who has stolen USD 1 milliard, according to World Bank experts, UNIAN reported.

These data are publicized during presentation of UNO and World Bank initiative “Return of stolen assets”, the aim of which is to create effective mechanism of funds return, stolen by leader, to the countries.

As a reminder, Lazarenko was admitted guilty of blackmail, fraud transportation of stolen assets and money laundering, and sentenced to imprisonment and fine in amount of USD 10 million. In 2003 Lazarenko was released on bail.
