According to the PR press service, the Vice PM Dmitro Tabachnik informed the journalists at a press conference about the history of the event, its organizational procedures, and generally, what it took to prepare to the event of such level. The vice Prime Minister has also emphasized that the security measures were among the most important issues on the agenda, along with organizing safety for the public during the games, and, naturally, proper medical assistance to the athletes.
“Now I can proudly report that the Organizational Committee is implementing its honorary mission of turning the Games into a real festival of sports”, - he said.
1,000 people confirmed their participation, 767 of which are sportsmen, 75 international category referees form 40 European countries, 22 Presidents of international and European federations, 10 physical training and sporting representatives from European Central Executive bodies.
Competitions are held in seven buildings specially equipped for the event with 180 international category referees to perform the judging.
The opening took place on Mykhailivska square with the concert program and fireworks. The closing part is scheduled to go off at the Sports Palace, and will include a disco-concert with participation of the award-winning athletes. There and then the European Sports Committee flag will be passed on to Mr. Gintautas Vileita, the President of non-Olympic committee of Lithuania, the country to hold the Second European Sports Games.
