For 2013, the State Financial Inspection has prevented the extra spending of public money in public procurement in amount of 1.2 billion hryvnia, head of market operations and public procurement monitoring department of the State Financial Inspection of Ukraine Anna Yermilova told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to her, even before the introduction of the new procedure of checks in public procurement, which, according to the decision of the Cabinet came into force on September 17, 2013, the State Financial Inspection prevented the total losses of public funds in the amount of 1.7 billion UAH by requesting documents under the control of the relevant institutions.

"For eight months in 2013 this amount made up 1.2 billion UAH," the head of the department said. As Yermilova noted, the State Financial Inspection gives special attention to the field of education and road complex.

"According to the taken measures, unnecessary spending of public funds in the area of road maintenance in the amount of 272 million UAH was prevented," she said.

According to Yermilova, the State Financial Inspection revealed a number of organizations offenders and terminated contracts with them or canceled trades.

Yermilova also noted that there are many violations of public procurement, but the State Financial Inspection pays special attention to procurement, where the largest amounts of public funds are concentrated.
