FM asks MEPs to refrain from political assessments of Ukrainian justice

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine called on European partners to refrain from political assessments of Ukrainian officials and justice, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing, commenting on the statement, made by chairman of the European Parliament's foreign affairs committee Elmar Brok, on restrictions on entering the EU for some Ukrainian officials.

"We paid attention to the statement of Mr. Brock, in which he clearly gives his own assessment. We were also surprised to note that members of the European Parliament had time to get acquainted with the details of the criminal case before the defenders and to give it an assessment before the Ukrainian court," Perebyinis said, ForUm correspondent reports.

The FM spokesman reminded that the determining factor in any criminal case is the court’s decision. Yevhen Perebyinis urged European partners to refrain from political judgment and to act within the framework of generally accepted democratic norms.
