New ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky believes that the European Parliament should consider an issue on further visa liberalization with Ukraine immediately after the parliamentary elections, he told ForUm correspondent.
"I hope that in November, we will have a positive answer from the European Parliament," he said and recalled that in July, the EU Parliament adopted a decision on the visa-free prospect of Ukraine.
The ambassador also noted that the biometric passports can cause the activation of debate on this issue in Ukraine.
At the same time, Tombinsky did not predict the possible date of the visa-free regime for Ukraine. "This is my mission to help Ukraine to get closer to the EU, and I will do everything possible during the next four years," he concluded.
