The Foreign Ministry states that the EU-Ukraine summit is scheduled to be held in 2012, foreign minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko told journalists.
He said that on Friday, President Viktor Yanukovych met with the European Commissioner for Enlargement of the European Union and the European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle, Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt and European Parliament deputy, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Elmar Brok. The parties discussed preparations for parliamentary elections in Ukraine.
According to Hryshchenko, the parties noted that elections should be held in accordance with democratic standards.
In turn, Yanukovych said that this process should involve all concerned parties.
The parties also discussed the adaptation process of the Ukrainian legislation to the European standards.
Hryshchenko believes that the presence of such dialogue and the exchange of views on important issues of bilateral relations is a positive aspect.
