The National Bank of Ukraine introduces a simplified currency exchange procedure for the period of June 1-10 of 2012, period of final matches of Euro-2012 football tournament. A relevant decree was issued on May 24 and comes into force as from June 1, 2012.
The changes are aimed at the provision of a simple currency exchange procedure for non-residents, including organizers, participants and guests of the Euro-2012 finals.
During the established period banks may carry out currency exchange operations without issuing certificate #377 (a document required for return currency exchange operation for non-residents). The given certificate will be replaced by receipts of similar form. Non-residents should retain the receipt as they may be required to produce it if exchanging money back on departure. Banks are to keep copies of the given receipts for documentation.
NBU has also obliged the banks (financial institutions) to display information on currency exchange procedure for non-residents in the Ukrainian and English languages.
