With firm determination Ukraine demands from Russia to stop self-willed actions of Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, in particular, near the lighthouse “Khersonessky”, which violates basic agreements on temporal location of RF BSF on the territory of Ukraine, as declared Foreign Minister of Ukraine, press office of Ministry for Foreign Affairs reported.
“We are indignant over the events, which took place during peace demonstration, conducted by Ukrainian citizens near the lighthouse “Khersonessky” on February 11, 2006,” underlined the Minister.
He reminded that unknown person civilian clothes had been admitted to the territory of the lighthouse, where he had pulled out state flag of Ukraine from the hands of the participants of the action and outraged it. At the same time, state flag of the Russian Federation had been illegally raised on the territory of the lighthouse and the territory itself had been fenced in with barbed wire.
According to Tarasyuk, the Ukrainian party declared protest in connection with application of brute force against peaceful demonstrators, as a result of which a Ukrainian citizen (a woman – ed.) had been beaten. “We appealed to plenipotentiary bodies of the RF with the demand to investigate the incident and punish the offenders. Otherwise, Ukraine reserves a right to act in accordance with the national legislation and norms of international law,” noted the Minister.
At the same time, Tarasyuk expressed a hope that this incident is a regrettable misunderstanding, but not Russia’s state policy.
