Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine proposes to abolish the daylight saving time. The suggestion is stated in the bill, posted on the Ministry's website.

"Currently, we have the following procedure for time calculating in Ukraine: the second time zone (Kyiv time) with adjusting clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday in March at 3 a.m. and adjusting clocks backward one hour on the last Sunday in October at 4 a.m. The bill provides for introducing the second time zone (Kyiv time) without adjusting clocks on the territory of Ukraine," text of the bill reads.

The document also says that such an order of time calculation aims at improving of health of citizens, increasing working capacity of the population, reducing the number of accidents.
This document supposes its entry into force on March 1, 2013.

The Ministry recalled that the bill was considered and approved by the Cabinet on January 25, 2012. However, after the elections, the resignation and appointment of the new government, the document needs additional approval by the Finance Ministry, the Healthcare Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
