Victor Yushchenko has met with HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark.

They discussed ways to develop Ukrainian-Danish cooperation in agriculture. The President said, given many reforms introduced in our country in the past few years, this issue was quite topical in Ukraine, the president press office informed.

“We are absolutely satisfied with the dynamics we are witnessing in agriculture,” he said, adding that this market was becoming richer every year, which gives grounds to claim Ukraine’s agricultural export potential is enormous. President Yushchenko told his guest Ukraine was also interested in building closer ties with investors, being determined to carry out “open and liberal investment policies.”

In his turn, Prince Joachim said Ukraine had “unique possibilities” for the development of its agriculture. Having a huge territory and fertile soils to meet the needs of the home market, Ukraine can also export its goods, he said. The Prince added that members of the Denmark Investment Council believed our country'sinvestment niche was expanding.

The Head of State then said he was also going to build effective diplomatic cooperation with Denmark. He confirmed his intention to invite Queen Margrethe II to Ukraine and said he was looking forward to his visit to Copenhagen.

Agriculture Minister Yuriy Melnyk, Deputy Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko and Ukraine’s Ambassador to Denmark Natalya Zarudna attended the meeting.
