PJSC "Kyivenergo" is unable to finance the heating season 2013/2014 on its own, the company’s press service states.

"This year, due to the record low temperatures in October, PJSC "Kyivenergo" continues to work around the clock, starting heat supplies to 1300-1600 consumers daily, in contrast to one thousand consumers previous year," the statement reads.

In the non-heating season, the specialists conducted a large-scale replacement of worn-out parts of heating systems. This year, the company invested about 270 million hryvnia in the development and modernization of the heat economy of the capital, including the replacement of the most worn-out heating systems.

"However, the debt for natural gas, consumed over the last periods, threatens the stability of heating supplies in Kyiv," Kyivenergo press service notes.

As of October 1 this year, the company's debt to "Naftogaz of Ukraine" made up 2.1 billion UAH, while the uncompensated difference in rates for thermal energy was 1.588 billion UAH, total consumer debt for electricity and heat to "Kyivenergo" - 2.263 billion UAH.

"Because of the budget debt for compensation for the difference in tariffs to the company, as well as untimely payments by consumers, especially those of the public sector, the "Kyivenergo" is unable to timely pay "Naftogaz of Ukraine" for the consumed natural gas," the statement said.

The company stressed that a way out could be found only by joint efforts of "Naftogaz of Ukraine", PJSC "Kyivenergo" and the city government.
