The new draft law of Ukraine on prosecutor's office provides for guarantees for the independence of prosecutors and protection from interference in their professional activities, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka reported at the World annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Moscow.
Pshonka noted that effective implementation of the duties assigned to prosecutors is possible only under conditions of real independence. "So the next stage of reform of the prosecutor's office is the new law on prosecutor's office," he said.
According to him, the independence of prosecutors is possible through the creation of prosecutorial self-administration bodies – All-Ukrainian Conference of Prosecutors and the Council of Prosecutors of Ukraine.
