President’s commissioner for children's rights Yuri Pavlenko asks the Parliament to stop blocking consideration of the bill on restriction on the sale of alcohol and cigarettes within 300 meters around schools.

"In all regions of Ukraine, we saw that the complaints about proximity of stalls with alcohol and cigarettes to schools, are grounded. We have responded to all specific cases. However, there are too many such stalls, so I addressed urban and rural heads to take all legal measures to protect children's rights to health and life safety.

We believe it is necessary to return to the Ukrainian legislation the restriction on the sale of alcohol and cigarettes within 300 meters around schools and return to local authorities the right to prohibit the sale of alcohol and cigarettes," Pavlenko told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

To date, according to him, the Verkhovna Rada "delays and blocks" consideration of the relevant bill.
