The Interior Ministry denied information about escape of number of the people, who wore electronic bracelets and were kept under house arrest.
"They tried to run away, but no one ran away. There have been cases where people cut the bracelet. However, any damage signaled an alarm, and the operator saw it on the panel. People who tried to do it, changed the relatively comfortable conditions of house arrest to detention on remand," spokesman of the Interior Ministry Serhiy Burlakov said.
According to him, the Ministry purchased through open tenders 527 Israeli high-quality electronic bracelets, which are also used in the United States and Germany. Burlakov noted that the need of the police in these devices is much more, making up 50 thousand.
Ministry spokesman stressed that house arrest is often applied without bracelets, and the arrested do not run away.
