The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has expressed hope that the position of Pakistan in the issue of paying compensations to relatives of the climbers killed in an attack of an extremist militant group in Pakistan will be announced in the near term and the guilty persons will be punished, director of the Information Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing on Friday.

"We cannot speak about a concrete sum of compensation now. We continue talks with Pakistan," he said, Interfax informed.

He said that the settling of the issue is complicated by the fact that there have not been any such cases in Pakistan earlier.

"Pakistan is mulling the possibility of paying the compensation to Ukrainian citizens… We hope that we’ll receive the response from Pakistan in the near future," Perebyinis said.

He said that the Ministry has information that Islamabad is investigating into the incident.

"We hope that the investigation will give the final answer to the question. We hope that the persons who are guilty in the tragedy will be detained and punished, and all the facts of the tragedy will be resolved," he said.
