Kyiv’s District Administrative Court has satisfied a petition by the city authorities to ban the holding of any events, other than those envisaged by the program for the celebration of Kyiv City Day, on May 25 in the central part of the city.
The court has issued a respective ruling today.

On May 21, the KCSA press office informed that city officials go to court with a claim on the prohibition of any activities other than those envisaged by the program for the celebration of Kyiv City Day, on May 25 in the central part of the city.

It was explained that such a decision was reasoned by a number of messages, which KCSA received from public organizations and citizens on holding public events, different in views and forms, in one and the same place, and by a large number of events scheduled for Kyiv Day.

In particular, the organizing committee of "Kyiv Pride 2013" and the LGBT organizations applied for holding of peaceful demonstration "March of equality" on May 25. Its purpose was to overcome discrimination and achieve equality for all social groups and minorities in Ukraine. The stated number of participants was about 500 people.
