A new voting system, which reads fingerprints of MPs must be introduced in the Parliament, deputy leader of the UDAR Party faction Vitali Kovalchuk said on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the main suggestion of the UDAR Party, concerning changes in the Rules, is the guarantee of personal voting by "biometric system".

"The main thing is to achieve understanding on the term of production and activation of a new voting system. At present the proposed changes (to the law on the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada" - Ed.) provide for an effective mechanism to monitor the personal voting. Therefore, we need a new system, which will solve this issue once and for all," he said.

Kovalchuk has suggested that MPs will agree to provide their biometric data.

"We are introducing biometric passports. This issue is being resolved in some way. In addition, if we fail to protect fingerprints of an MP, then we fail to protect the system itself from external interference. I think that it's technically possible. This question should be solved by specialists," he concluded.
