Ukraine is interested in further cooperation with the EU in energy sphere, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dikusarov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Ukraine attaches great importance to the continuation of cooperation with the EU in the energy sector, including modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, which will enhance energy security in Europe," he said.

According to Dikusarov, Ukraine supports the EU’s transparency in enhancing bilateral dialogue at all levels, including the introduction of a visa-free regime. "One of the priority tasks for the coming months is to move from the implementation phase of the dialogue with the EU on visa-free regime for Ukrainians to the enactment of amendments to the agreements on visa facilitation," the Foreign Ministry representative said.

He also stressed that the next EU-Ukraine summit in early 2013 in Brussels will become an important occasion to discuss all the issues of cooperation with the EU at the highest level.
