The monument to a Swedish fan will be opened on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv at the site of a record crowd of football fans.
"The monument will be erected ahead of the Kyiv Day in 2013 on Trukhaniv Island at the site where UEFA reported an absolutely record number of fans in one campsite," Kyiv City State Administration said in the statement.
A competition among Kyiv's sculptors on the creation of a project for the monument will be announced on Oct. 12.
As reported, about five thousand Swedish fans live on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv during European Football Champion 2012.
