Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has participated in the unveiling ceremony of the Independence Monument at Constitution Square in Kharkiv, President's press service reports.
According to the President, the Independence Monument symbolizes Ukrainians' dream of freedom, fight for independence and striving for new victories and achievements.
"We can and should be unified and united. Only by joint efforts, we can overcome all the trials and succeed on the chosen path," the head of the state said at the opening ceremony of the monument.
Yanukovych thanked the creators of the monument, the city administration and all people involved in the opening of the Independence Monument in Kharkiv.
The President also congratulated everyone on the upcoming Independence Day and the Day of Kharkiv.
