The overall GPA in the future will be credited to the overall test results, the minister of education and science of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk told a briefing in the Cabinet’s of Ministers of Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports.

Minister considers it inappropriate to return to the practice, when the grades of school diploma did not influence the admission rating of the applicants.

According to Tabachnyk, the current rule, when the grades of school diploma influence the overall result of the graduate, motivates students to study all the subjects, not just those they plan to pass during external independent testing.

"I am absolutely sure that it is necessary to credit the grades of school diploma, because we used to demotivate high school students. I know that even from my family experience," the Minister said.

Tabachnyk also sees nothing wrong with that in the last year the number of pupils graduating with honors significantly increased. He said the monitoring was conducted, which showed that the results of such pupils coincide with their results during the external independent testing. The schools, where there are significant differences, undergo special inspection.

"In 2010-2011 there were differences only in few dozen schools, the current number of pupils graduating with honors has not reached the level before 2008," the minister said.
