Ukraine's state oil and gas company Naftogaz has transferred about USD 648 million to Russia's Gazprom for natural gas imported in May 2012, the Ukrainian company's press service reports, according to UKRINFORM.
"On June 7, 2012, Naftogaz of Ukraine transferred almost USD 648 million to OJSC Gazprom for natural gas imported in May 2012," reads the report.
The price of natural gas for the company in the second quarter of 2012 was USD 425 per thousand cubic meters, which was 2.2% higher than in the first quarter of 2012 (USD 416).
In accordance with the terms of a supplementary agreement to the basic contract, which was signed between Naftogaz and Gazprom on April 21, 2010, the price of natural gas is determined by taking into account a USD 100 discount per thousand cubic meters.
According to forecasts by Naftogaz, the price of Russian natural gas for Ukraine in the third quarter of 2012 will be about USD 432 per thousand cubic meters.
