The social initiatives of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych are aimed at overcoming poverty in the country, the vice prime minister and social policy minister of Ukraine Serhiy Tihipko said, ForUm learned from the Social Ministry press office.

“The President’s social initiatives are a powerful blow to poverty. This is the beginning of the restoring social justice process in Ukraine,” the vice prime minister said.

In addition, Tihipko stressed that after the increase in social payments, the number of pensioners receiving a pension of less than 1000 UAH has fallen from 7.6 million to 3.7 million people.

“The initiatives in the social sphere are an unprecedented step. Such large-scale social programs were not conducted in Ukraine in the past 20 years,” he said.

The vice prime minister stressed that the increase in salaries, pensions, benefits for all the categories of the population is a priority for the Ukrainian government.
