The European Union is watching closely the way Ukraine fulfils its commitments, vice president of the European Parliament Jacek Protasiewicz said during the international debates "Ukraine-EU at the Rubicon", ForUm correspondent reports.
According to the MEP, for the passed years, especially in 2011, Ukraine has taken a number of positive steps regarding the European integration.
"The EU has hoped that Ukraine will become a banner bearer of the European vector of integration in the Eastern Europe, including Belarus. But our relations have reached the critical point," the official said.
He added that Brussels had laid to many hopes on Ukraine to abandon them so quickly. "We want to see your country very close to Europe, so one day it can join its ranks," Protasiewicz summed up.
