The official parliamentary election campaign in Ukraine will begin on July 30, 2012 - 90 days before Election Day. The elections will be held on October 28. This is envisaged in a tentative schedule of main organizational measures on preparing for and holding parliamentary elections in Ukraine, reads a statement posted on the website of the Central Election Commission, UKRINFORM reports.

According to the commission's plan, the beginning of the election process will be announced no later than July 28, not later than 91 days before Election Day.

According to the law on elections, they will be held under a mixed proportional-first-past-the-post system, with 225 deputies to be elected in a national multi-member district on party lists and 225 deputies to be elected in single-member constituencies.

The nomination of candidates on party lists and in single-member constituencies will begin on July 30 and end on August 9. Candidates for single-member constituencies could be nominated by parties or through self-nomination.

Unlike all previous elections, candidates running for single-member constituencies will be registered by the Central Election Commission, rather than district election commissions.
