Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko was personally familiar with the Kushnir gang, which committed a murder of people's deputy Yevhen Shcherban, businessman Oleksandr Momot and National Bank governor Vadym Hetman.

First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin said on air of the Inter TV channel, according to UKRINFORM.

“10 years ago a witness has been questioned, who asserts that he knows that Yulia Tymoshenko had close ties with the Kushnir gang... She was personally familiar with Kushnir and his gunmen.

According to him, the witness assured that Tymoshenko herself confessed that she repeatedly approached Kushnir and his gunmen for help.

Kuzmin noted that currently, the Prosecutor General's Office checks information about involvement of Yulia Tymoshenko and former Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko in the murder of Momot and Hetman. “In addition to the murder of Shcherban, we check the versions about involvement of Lazarenko and Tymoshenko in the murder of Donetsk businessman Momot. Momot was killed several months before Shcherban,” he said.

The First Deputy Prosecutor General added: if involvement of Tymoshenko in those murders is proved, she faces life imprisonment.
