For the first time for all years of independence current Cabinet has allocated 1.7 million hryvnias to hold independent inspection of quality and safety of various goods, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at a meeting with representatives of public organizations and experts on consumers' rights protection, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the Premier, in 2011 more than 40 thousand enterprises were inspected for observance of the legislation on consumers' rights protection. Violations were registered in 91% of cases (for comparison - 87% in 2010), he noted.

Azarov underlined that among major violations are absence of full information about goods and realization of products and services without necessary accompanying documents.

"The total volume of inspections is more than 679 million hryvnias in money terms. The relevant bodies prevented sale of poor quality goods and services at the amount of 204 million hryvnias. More than 35 thousand people were brought to responsibility, whose penalties made total of 5.7 million hryvnias," the Premier specified and added that enterprises-offenders were fined at the total amount of 181 million hryvnias.
